Trademark usage policy
Progressive Event App® is a registered trade mark of Presso Network Ltd. Anyone may use it to describe a product that meets the published criteria, without asking permission and without paying a fee.

“PEA” is not registered
The registration covers the words Progressive Event App. The abbreviation “PEA” is not registered, and this site uses it as an unregistered mark. That is why you will see Progressive Event App® and PEA™ on this site rather than ® on both. Representing an unregistered mark as registered is an offence under section 95 of the Trade Marks Act 1994, so the distinction is kept precisely, including by a build check that fails if anyone puts ® after PEA.
Why the mark is held openly
A category term and a trademark usually pull against each other. A category grows because people use the word freely; a mark survives because its owner controls who uses it. Terms that lost that fight, and became ordinary words, include escalator, thermos and aspirin.
This mark is held the way Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are held: conformance is open and defined by published, testable criteria, and the mark is policed on how it is used rather thanwho uses it. A term nobody may use describes nothing. A term anybody may use for anything describes nothing either. The criteria are what keep it meaning something.
What you may do
- Describe your product as a Progressive Event App if it meets all fivecriteria. You do not need to notify anyone.
- Use the term descriptively in writing, research, journalism, RFPs and procurement documents.
- Say that a product does not meet the criteria, and why.
- Reproduce the criteria in full, with attribution, including in a competing publication.
What you may not do
- Use the term for a product that does not meet all five criteria. This is the only restriction that matters, and it is the one that keeps the term worth using.
- Use “Progressive Event App” or “PEA” as the name of your product, or as part of it. It is a category, not a brand: a product called “AcmePEA” is using the mark as a name rather than a description.
- Imply that this site, or Presso Network Ltd, endorses, certifies or has approved your product. Conformance is self-declared and open; endorsement is not offered to anyone, including to the publisher's own product.
- Use the mark in a domain name, logo or app icon.
